We’re tucked away just deep enough in the country to be secluded, while still easily accessible from the M5, main line railway, bus station and airport at Exeter.

Important details:

We are Sheldon (this is the name of the property), at Sheldon Lane Doddiscombsleigh, in the Teign Valley. We are NOT the village called Sheldon near Honiton, NOR the town of Shaldon near Teignmouth.

If coming by taxi pre-book a private hire cab (further advice below), as a cab off the rank is unlikely to know how to find us, and will cost you significantly more.

Our postcode is EX6 7YT and shared with other properties along the Sheldon Lane. Sheldon is right at the end of the, half mile long, lane.

Our what3words location is slipped.aside.entrusted

Mobile reception in the surrounding area can be patchy, so don’t rely on being able to ring up if you get lost.

This is the link to our local Facebook group which is a good source of last minute information on local road closures.

Driving to Sheldon

We have an electric vehicle (EV) charging point for use of guests.

Our key advice to car drivers is to NOT approach Sheldon via Haldon hill and Doddiscombsleigh village. These roads are narrow, rough and very steep in several places so are best avoided. Unfortunately most SatNavs and route planning websites are not clever enough to realise this, so here’s our advice for a smooth journey. Either of the routes below are oky coming from the M5, but the second (A38) one is the easier, especially after dark.

If you approach Sheldon via Exeter or the A30, take the B3212 through Longdown, turn left onto the B3193 and follow it South and then South East until you reach the Teign House Inn, turn left here and follow the road over a wide bridge then a narrow humped bridge and turn left onto Sheldon Lane.

If you approach Sheldon via the Devon Expressway/A38, take the Chudleigh/Teign Valley turning, turn right and right again to follow the B3193 North until you reach the Teign House Inn. Turn right here and follow the road over a wide bridge then a narrow humped bridge and turn left onto Sheldon Lane.
