Sheldon bedrooms provide monastic simplicity with 21st Century comfort.
All bedrooms have been designed with you in mind.

You want to be confident that members of your group will love their en-suite bedrooms. All the little touches have gone in right at the design stage of our buildings – quietness, lighting, heating, privacy. You won’t find the fancy decor of a boutique hotel, but you will find quietly reliable comfort and built-in care for your participants.

Room occupancy

Will your members want the space and privacy of single occupancy or the budget-friendly option of sharing rooms? Will any of your number need step-free ground floor accommodation? Help us understand what you need, then you to organise occupancy that suits your people and budget.

Furnishing

Every bedroom has wood frame single or twin beds, bedside cabinet, hanging space, light armchair, writing desk and chair along with an en-suite wet room. There are plenty of power sockets and USB sockets in the newest rooms. Rooms either have a TV or a good view and free WiFi is available throughout.

The whole ambience of the weekend was excellent. The atmosphere of peace and tranquillity was preserved throughout.

Designed with retreat in mind

Sheldon is a cluster of medieval farm buildings and yet the recent conversions/rebuilds have been carried to the highest modern design standards. We have woven quietness right into the fabric of the building – everything from water pipes and extract fans, fire door closers and specification of partition walls. Sheldon’s bedrooms are designed to be places of retreat.

Features and quirks

Every bedroom provides the space you need for your guests, with the universal fittings described above. Some have quirks and others some interesting features. Here are a few

  • Pound House rooms have TVs
  • Four Long Barn rooms have balconies
  • All have modern wet rooms except Pound House 5 which has a bath
  • Pound House rooms have USB sockets
  • Pound House 6 is very small but perfectly formed
  • Long Barn 8 has a double aspect view
  • All Long barn rooms have views of Sheldon or across the hills
  • All Long Barn and Pound House bedrooms are first floor
  • The 3 Pig Pens have a variety of special uses with their own little kitchens and 2 with extra bed pads on a mezzanine deck. They are wheelchair accessible (read more here) and make good rooms for leaders too.

Sheldon bedrooms are not decorated as fancy hotel rooms that prioritise style over substance. At Sheldon we bring you the tradition of the simple monastic cell together with the comforts of the 21st Century. Each bedroom and space is designed for quiet, comfort and reflection.

From providing space for your leaders to sharing rooms, balcony views to accessible features, simplicity to comfort, the bedrooms at Sheldon provide everything your group may need.
